Fertility medication caused drug ban, says NFL player

Two-time Super Bowl champion Nazeeh Johnson claims his positive test for a banned substance was due to fertility medication he was taking at the time. The Tennessee Titans cornerback faces a six-game suspension without pay following his violation of the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. 28-year-old Johnson revealed to X that he and his wife had undergone fertility treatment as they had been informed he was infertile.

He admitted he was unaware the medication contained a substance on the banned list and expressed regret that he tested positive for a PED. Johnson urged fellow NFL players to seek proper approval before introducing any substances into their bodies. The couple recently experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby, and Johnson remains hopeful they will be able to expand their family.

Johnson was drafted by the Chiefs in 2022 and played a crucial role in their back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024 before joining Tennessee in July. He is allowed to participate in all pre-season activities, including games, before his suspension commences on August 30. The Titans' season opener is scheduled for September 13, and Johnson will be eligible for reinstatement on October 19.
