Fertility medication caused drug ban, says NFL player

Tennessee Titans cornerback Nazeeh Johnson has been suspended for six regular-season games without pay after testing positive for a banned substance. The NFL player, 28, claims the medication causing his positive test was fertility treatment he was undergoing with his wife. Johnson and his wife had previously been told he was infertile, leading to the treatment.

Johnson expressed shock at the substance being on the banned list, stating he was unaware and had tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. The couple recently experienced the loss of a baby, making this a particularly challenging time for them. Despite this, they remain hopeful about growing their family. Johnson was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022, helping them secure two Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024.

He transferred to the Titans in July, and is currently eligible for all pre-season activities before his suspension begins on August 30. The Titans' season opener is set for September 13, and Johnson is expected to be reinstated by October 19.
