European Athletics Championships 2026 schedule and times as Amy Hunt chases four golds

The 2026 European Athletics Championships will be held in Birmingham's Alexander Stadium from August 10th to 16th, marking the first time the event is being hosted in the UK. Coverage of the championships will be broadcast live on the BBC and BBC iPlayer, with live coverage beginning on August 10th at 10:30am BST.

Among the athletes to watch out for is Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson, though controversy surrounds her advancement to the final after falling in her semi-final. Hodgkinson's training partner and Commonwealth Games 800m champion, Georgia Hunter Bell, is also expected to compete. The event is expected to feature 10 reigning world champions, including pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, and Norway's Olympic 5,000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who has made a long-awaited return from injury after not competing in 2026.

The evening sessions will see the women's 1500m and 4x100m relay rounds 1 start at 12:40pm BST and 1:00pm BST, respectively.

On Sunday, August 16th, the day will start with the women's marathon at 7:30am BST and the men's marathon at 8:10am BST. The rest of the day will see the men's pole vault, women's javelin throw, women's long jump finals, mixed 4x100m relay, 3000m steeplechase, women's 1500m, 4x400m relay, and men's 4x400m relay finals.
