Energy of the youth real strength of modern Delhi: Delhi’s LG on Independence Day

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, addressed the city on Independence Day, highlighting the youth as the core driving force for the metropolis' future. In his speech, Sandhu emphasized the importance of collaboration between various government entities, neighboring states, and citizens to overcome complex challenges and transform them into opportunities.

Key issues for Delhi's development include cleaning the Yamuna River, addressing air pollution, providing affordable housing, ensuring healthcare access, maintaining safety for women and children, improving traffic management, and reviving the city's heritage. Sandhu addressed the city's youth directly, acknowledging their energy, creativity, and civic sense as the true strength of modern Delhi.

He urged citizens to maintain cleanliness in their neighborhoods, protect public spaces, and uphold their fundamental duties, noting that while the government can build these spaces, citizens must sustain them.

Sandhu also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day address from the Red Fort, outlining the "Shakti Ki Saptdhara" – seven key domains of strength – which include manufacturing, agriculture and food processing, technology and innovation, Gati Shakti, Raksha Shakti, the green and blue economy, and India's soft power. He stressed that these streams would collectively drive the nation's growth in the coming years, particularly in the context of Delhi.

Delhi's approach to public governance, according to Sandhu, should be based on Prime Minister Modi's vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas. The LG stated that the goal for Delhi is to become a developed city, a national model of excellence, safety, and civic pride. Sandhu, who has been serving Delhi for the past 50 years, emphasized that service to the city is not just an administrative duty but a sacred responsibility.

He expressed his belief in Delhi's immense potential, which the collective efforts of the administration must convert into convenience, dignity, and well-being for every citizen.
