Don’t allow rejected politicians hijack Osun mandate, Adeleke tells Tinubu

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged President Bola Tinubu to take action to prevent what he described as "desperate and rejected politicians" attempting to disrupt the ongoing collation of results from the state's recent governorship election. Adeleke made the appeal in a social media post as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the collation process.

He specifically requested President Tinubu to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies in Osun State to safeguard the electoral process and the safety of the public. Reports of attempts to interfere with the collation centers by dissatisfied politicians were troubling, especially considering the extensive deployment of security personnel for the election, Adeleke noted.

He appealed to the President to reaffirm his commitment to ensuring that Osun residents' votes are respected and that the final result accurately reflects the electorate's choice. The governor also called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies to adhere to the President's instructions and ensure the electoral process remains protected.

Adeleke emphasized the importance of INEC's efforts to complete the collation and declaration process in a credible and transparent manner, as the outcome should reflect the people of Osun State's wishes.
