Dodgers Reveal Coming Move For Justin Wrobleski

The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced plans to shift pitcher Justin Wrobleski to the bullpen, despite featuring him as a starting pitcher this year. This move is a result of the Dodgers implementing a six-man rotation, a strategy that is often challenging for teams as it removes a player from the bullpen. However, for the Dodgers, this approach has worked well for most of the season, with their starters being elite and one of them, Tyler Glasnow, expected to return soon. Additionally, Shohei Ohtani is also expected to make a return.

Wrobleski, along with Tyler Glasnow, Tarik Skubal, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki, currently forms the Dodgers' rotation. While Snell, Skubal, and Yamamoto are not leaving, Sasaki has shown significant improvement after the Dodgers addressed some of his issues. When Glasnow and Ohtani return, Wrobleski and Lauer will most likely be the candidates for replacement. Lauer, although not the strongest arm, has experience as a reliever and would be a reliable candidate to join the bullpen.

Wrobleski, who has previously been a full-time starter this season with a 3.44 ERA, has been struggling lately, with a 9.88 ERA in his last three starts. This is not surprising given that he has already thrown over 18 more innings than his career high set in 2023. Moving him to the bullpen could potentially bolster the Dodgers' struggling bullpen.
