Defence headquarters X account hacked, DHQ warns public

The Defence Headquarters has revealed that its official X account, previously known as Twitter, was breached in an attempted unauthorized access. This matter was disclosed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, in a statement released on Saturday. The incident is currently being treated as a cybersecurity concern, with the DHQ activating technical measures to secure the account and prevent further unauthorized access.

Uba informed the public, media, and all stakeholders about the attempted breach, urging them to disregard any suspicious, unauthorized, or misleading content that might be posted from the compromised account during the restoration period. He reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to fully regain control of the official X account and emphasized the DHQ's commitment to maintaining high standards of information security.

The Defence Headquarters urged Nigerians to rely on its verified accounts on other platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and its WhatsApp Channel, for accurate and timely updates on the activities and operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
