Defence headquarters X account hacked, DHQ warns public

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that its official X account was breached in what appeared to be an unauthorized attempt to gain access. In a statement released on Saturday, Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, informed the public that the incident is being handled as a cybersecurity matter and that technical measures have been put in place to protect the account.

The DHQ emphasized that it is committed to maintaining high standards of information security and ensuring the public receives accurate, timely, and reliable information about the activities and operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. While the efforts to regain control of the official X account are ongoing, the DHQ urged the public to ignore any suspicious, unauthorized, or misleading content posted during this time.

The DHQ also reminded the public to rely on its verified accounts on other platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and its WhatsApp channel, to receive updates and information about military activities and operations.
