Congress govt. committed to ensure welfare of the poor, says Bhatti

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka of the Congress government expressed commitment to ensure the welfare of the poor in Telangana. The state is home to approximately 1.15 crore families, out of which 1,06,28,092 families possess ration cards. Under the government's initiative, 3,42,57,109 beneficiaries are provided with six kilogrammes of high-quality rice each month via ration cards.

At a Khammam event marking Independence Day, Vikramarka highlighted that no other state had implemented such a large-scale program. The previous BRS government had made it difficult for families to obtain ration cards, whereas the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy quickly sanctioned new ration cards for every eligible poor family in the state.

In Khammam district alone, 62,158 new ration cards were issued, alongside the existing 4,73,275 cards. The Congress-led administration has also launched other significant welfare schemes, such as free bus travel for women on TGSRTC buses, free electricity up to 200 units for poor families, and an increase in Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme coverage from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
