Cambridge June 2026 results show 11% growth in India as exam entries rise

In June 2026, Cambridge International's examination series saw a 11% year-on-year growth in India, with entries across Cambridge qualifications surpassing 40,000. This follows the alignment of the Cambridge March Series with India's academic calendar, while the June Series remains a vital route for students and schools following international curricula. Entries from June 2024 to June 2026 rose from 34,000 to 40,000, with the number of schools making entries increasing from 293 to 347.

The most significant growth was observed in Cambridge International AS & A Level qualifications, with entries in India increasing by 15% year-on-year to over 14,000 in June 2026. Cambridge IGCSE entries also climbed, with a 9% rise to more than 22,000. This senior secondary level growth indicates the sustained demand for international qualifications as students prepare for university applications and choose subjects relevant to higher education and career pathways.

Subject choices reveal the Indian learners' priorities, with First Language English remaining the most popular Cambridge IGCSE subject, followed by Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. At the AS & A Level, Mathematics led, followed by Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and Business. The pattern shows strong demand for English proficiency, ongoing interest in STEM, and subjects linked to business and economics.

The growth is driven by the demand for flexible, interdisciplinary, and career-relevant education, with a focus on transferable skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability. Cambridge International's June 2026 series recorded a 5% increase globally, with over 737,000 Cambridge International AS & A Level entries. Overall, the June 2026 examination series saw a total of 1.7 million entries across 148 countries, involving nearly 705,000 students taking Cambridge examinations.
