Blue Jays place Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on 7-day injured list with concussion

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on their seven-day injured list with a concussion, following a collision with New York Yankees infielder George Lombard Jr. during Friday's game. Despite the injury, Guerrero still managed to score on the play by running 90 feet from third base. In response to the injury, the Blue Jays called up outfielder Daz Cameron from their minor league roster, who will be active against the Yankees on Saturday.

Additionally, right-handed reliever Lazaro Estrada was designated for assignment to make room for Cameron on the 40-man roster. Guerrero Jr.'s season has been challenging, with a .263/.337/.356 batting average and only seven home runs to date, none of which have occurred at Rogers Centre. The concussion adds to Guerrero's recent struggles, as he has also missed time due to hamstring tightness.

Charles McAdoo will start in Guerrero's place at first base on Saturday, with the possibility of Kazuma Okamoto also spending time at the position. Camero, a 29-year-old outfielder, has spent time with the Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, and Milwaukee Brewers, and has 11 home runs and 42 RBIs in 160 games over five MLB seasons.

Estrada, 27, had his fifth minor league option exercised this year after posting a 5.54 ERA with nine strikeouts and 10 walks over 13 innings for the Blue Jays. If recalled and sent down again, he would need to pass through waivers.
