Bengaluru Police Arrest West Bengal Man Over Alleged TTP Links, Afghanistan Travel Plan

Bengaluru police have apprehended a 25-year-old individual from West Bengal under suspicion of connections to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and potential travel plans to Afghanistan, authorities disclosed. Details About The Accused: Born in Naopara village, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, Mallik resided near APC Circle in Jigani, Bengaluru, and was employed as a security guard in the Jigani Industrial Area since December 2025. Arrest Details: Mallik was apprehended at the Bommasandra Industrial Area following reports of suspicious online activities.

How The Alleged TTP Link Was Identified: According to police accounts, Mallik allegedly had interaction with an Afghan national known as Imran Haider via Facebook. The individual is suspected to be linked to the TTP. Police obtained communications from Mallik's mobile phone, including texts, voice calls, and audio conversations, which allegedly suggested he was seeking assistance to travel to Afghanistan.

Alleged Plans: The police claim that Mallik had procured a passport and applied for a visa, with indications that he intended to join the group and retaliate against the Pakistan Army for perceived atrocities against Muslims, mosques, and civilians. Additionally, his online discussions reportedly included references to the Israel-Palestine conflict and threats of retaliation if Muslims faced hardships in India.

The Plan Abandoned: Despite preparations for the trip, Mallik reportedly did not proceed with the journey due to financial constraints and familial obligations. Investigation Focus: The ongoing investigation aims to clarify the nature and scope of his alleged connections and whether he had additional links to extremist networks.

Legal Proceedings: A case was filed at Hebbagodi police station under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to terrorist acts and related activities.
