‘Ask the mother who the father is’: Tamil Nadu BJP chief’s remark on CM Vijay sparks row

Nainar Nagendran, the Tamil Nadu BJP president, has sparked a political controversy with his remarks at a BJP event. Allegedly targeting Chief Minister Vijay, Nagendran suggested that if people are uncertain about a person's father in the House, they should inquire about their mother at home. This remark, according to news agency PTI, drew sharp criticism from political leaders who accused Nagendran of making a derogatory personal comment and crossing the limits of appropriate political discourse.

A complaint has been filed against him at the DGP Office. The controversy arose after Vijay, in a recent speech, used a "kutti kathai" (short story) to criticize DMK president MK Stalin, apparently referencing the whereabouts of an opposition leader's father. Vijay's remarks had previously drawn criticism from several political parties.

Nagendran's comments come in response to Vijay's remarks, and have been condemned by opposition leaders, who have described them as uncivilized and inappropriate.
