Art for a cause: Bhoomi exhibition highlights creativity for nature and social impact

In 2014, the YourStory platform launched PhotoSparks, a weekly showcase of photographs highlighting creativity and innovation. Over 1,010 posts have featured various events including art festivals, world music shows, telecom expos, millets fairs, climate change expos, wildlife conferences, startup festivals, Diwali rangoli displays, and jazz festivals.

This month, Venkatappa and Swasti art galleries in Bengaluru are collaborating to present a group exhibition called Bhoomi. The exhibition aims to celebrate humanity's relationship with nature while supporting a humanitarian cause, according to its curator, Bhagya Ajaikumar, Founder of Swasti Contemporary Art Gallery and Visiting Faculty at Bangalore University.

Co-curated with Pradeep Kumar DM, Bhoomi features works from approximately 40 prominent artists and art educators from across Karnataka. These artists, who hail from institutions such as Bangalore University and Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA) in Mysuru, have created a diverse array of pieces, including paintings, sculptures, mixed media artworks, and distinctive site-specific installations. Each piece provides a unique perspective on the exhibition's central theme.
