🍲 Annapurna's Kitchen — Every tiffin has Home's Flavour (Perfect Landing)

The Comfort Food Challenge required a polished, functional landing page centered around a food theme. Rather than using stock images and a simple "Order Now" button, the designer envisioned a dining experience that brought comfort meals to life.

For the author, comfort food meant a proper meal shared with family, eaten on the floor in the traditional baitak style. This included dishes like varan bati, bharit, and bhakri-thecha, cooked and served in a way that has been passed down through generations. Each component was thoughtfully designed to provide warmth and satisfaction.

The Annapurna's Kitchen landing page reflects this deeper understanding of comfort food. Instead of just offering a menu, the page allows users to select meals based on their mood, the time of year, cultural festivals, dietary preferences, and other personal factors. The interface lets diners customize their order, adding extras, specifying preparation notes, and choosing the desired heat level.

The site features an interactive map of India, with each state represented as a "bowl" containing its signature comfort dishes. Users can explore these regional specialties, just as they would choose meals in their own homes. The design maintains a sense of warmth and familiarity, with a logo in the form of a tiffin carrier traveling across the country.

The technical implementation demonstrates a commitment to performance and user experience. The single-page design uses vanilla HTML/CSS and TypeScript, with lazy loading of the interactive map to keep the initial page load light at around 214 KB. The use of CSS animations, Fuse.js for search functionality, and optional ambient sound further enhance the immersive experience.
