Zelenskyy after Staff meeting: Jet interceptor production to be accelerated

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, focusing on boosting Defense and Security Forces financing for the autumn-winter period. The team identified critical shortages and increased requirements for creating cutting-edge weapons, expediting production of strike and defensive assets, including jet interceptors.

Intelligence reports revealed Russia's plans, prompting Zelenskyy to announce the initiation of countermeasures and asymmetric responses. He assured that the plan for long-range and medium-range strikes against Russia is progressing. Zelenskyy also shared a special services report on the status of targeted operations against collaborators in occupied territory, especially in Sevastopol, who support Russian attacks on Ukraine and Ukrainians, stressing the necessity of accountability for such collaborators.

On Friday, former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the beginning of combat testing for Ukrainian anti-drone systems, with the first Ukrainian jet interceptor drones for Shaheds in testing phase. This trend highlights Russia's shift from conventional Shaheds to jet drones in warfare tactics. The Ukrainian team has been supporting manufacturers through Brave1, analyzing solutions, and aiding testing.

Consequently, several Ukrainian firms have developed suitable technologies. Acting Defense Minister Yevheniy Khmara, during a meeting with Swedish and Norwegian Defense Ministers, emphasized countering ballistics, cruise missiles, and jet Shaheds as a pressing priority. This requires interceptor missiles and asymmetric action measures.
