Which former Liverpool teammate could join Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor?

Trabzonspor's president Ertugrul Dogan has revealed that one of his former Liverpool teammates could potentially join the Turkish club's ranks alongside Mohamed Salah. The Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nunez, is reportedly of interest to the team, with negotiations currently taking place between Nunez's Saudi Arabian club, Al Hilal, and Trabzonspor.

Nunez, who moved to Al Hilal last season for a fee of around €54 million, struggled to cement a regular first-team spot under manager Simone Inzaghi. His chances diminished even further after Karim Benzema joined Al Hilal in the winter transfer window. Nunez, 27, has a contract with Al Hilal until 2028. Trabzonspor are considering a loan deal with the possibility of making it permanent, though Al Hilal prefer a straightforward transfer as they seek to maximize their return on the player.

Nunez played alongside Salah for three seasons at Liverpool, during which the pair helped the team secure the 2024/25 Premier League title. Although Nunez's goal tally was less than Salah's, he still managed 40 goals in 143 appearances across competitions before his transfer to Al Hilal. Trabzonspor's signing of Salah last month has been a significant coup for the club, as he performed exceptionally well during the recent World Cup, helping Egypt reach the last 16.
