Supreme Court quashes all FIRs against Samay Raina over insensitive remarks on India's Got Latent

Nearly a year after a joke sparked a series of legal issues, comedian Samay Raina has been cleared of all charges. On Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed criminal cases against him and three others following remarks about persons with disabilities made during an episode of India's Got Talent. This marks the end of a controversy that began when the Cure SMA India Foundation filed a petition accusing Raina of insensitive comments and mocking a person with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

The jokes in question were recorded in November and led to multiple cases being filed against Raina and social media personalities Vipun Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar. Initially, the court reprimanded Raina, ordering him to organize awareness programs and raise funds for persons with disabilities, but his compliance ultimately led to the dismissal of all charges.
