‘We have a lot to show’: Vancouver Rise make additions ahead of playoff push

Vancouver Rise bolster their roster with two new defenders as they push for a playoff spot. Chantelle Swaby, a 28-year-old defender, joins from Leicester City after her impressive campaign in the Women’s Super League and Kaela Hansen, a 26-year-old defender, returns from AFC Toronto. Both players are seen as valuable additions by head coach Anja Heiner-Moller, who praised Swaby’s calm demeanor and Hansen’s adaptability to the Rise’s playing style.

Swaby has experience in the National Women’s Soccer League, Scottish Women’s Premier League, and France’s top division. Hansen’s move back home is a personal highlight, as she is excited to play in front of a home crowd and be close to her family again. The Rise, currently sitting five points behind Halifax Tides in the NSL standings, lost veteran Mariah Lee to retirement and loaned goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan to the Tides for the remainder of the season.
