Trump says will ‘soon’ declare Hormuz strait US territory

Washington, on Friday, President Donald Trump announced his intention to soon declare the Strait of Hormuz as part of US territory. This declaration comes after Trump claimed to have defeated Iran in a recent conflict. During a political rally at a police academy in New York state, Trump chuckled as he made the statement, saying, "It's true, we'll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States soon."

Trump, in collaboration with Israel, initiated a war against Iran on February 28 with the primary objectives of halting Iran's nuclear program and inciting a popular uprising. Iran countered by asserting control over a significant portion of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy and commodity transportation. Currently, the US is locked in a stalemate with Iran over the strait.

The Iranian authorities have restricted access to much of the Strait, while the US Navy has established a blockade to impede Iranian ports and weaken the country's economy. Trump declared, "We have the blockade. No ships get through unless we want them to," to the applause of his supporters and law enforcement officers in attendance.
