Tiada penglibatan ‘orang dalam’ di KLIA, kata polis

Indonesian police have stated that there was no involvement of "inside men" in the investigation of a second flight passenger detained in Malaysia for allegedly smuggling more than 26kg of drugs, according to an official statement. The matter came to light after the person was found with over 70,000 ecstasy pills and 2.7g of methamphetamine at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on July 29.

The head of the Drug Enforcement Investigation Bureau at Bukit Aman, Hussein Omar Khan, revealed that initial investigations did not show any involvement of "inside men" at KLIA, indicating that the suspect acted alone in evading security checks. The police declined to disclose the specific methods used to evade the security checks to prevent any tampering with the investigation.

The suspect, a Malaysian national, was questioned in Jakarta this week and allegedly provided information about several drug syndicates in Malaysia and other countries. Indonesian authorities previously said the suspect was detained at the international airport in Jakarta on July 29 after being found with the large quantities of narcotics.

Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG) said the suspect was a second officer who was not on duty and took an extra seat in the cockpit as a lookout, rather than controlling the flight. In response to the incident, MAG initiated a mandatory drug screening program for all employees of the group of airlines, beginning with 1,260 Malaysia Airlines crew members.
