A persistent effort to engrave 'Trump' at the Kennedy Center…attempting a 'trick' when renaming is blocked

The Kennedy Center's board of directors attempted to add Donald Trump's name to the building façade in Washington D.C. after their initial attempt to rename it the "Trump-Kennedy Center" was blocked by the courts. According to a report by The New York Times and Reuters, the board passed a resolution to add a plaque reading "Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump" below the current name, "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts."

They also proposed renaming the Kennedy Center grounds as "Donald Trump Plaza" and shutting down the center for two years during the renovation. However, a federal judge in May blocked the name change, ordering the removal of any references to Trump from the building's exterior and official materials. The board has refused to back down, opting instead to plaster the building's façade with the plaque in an attempt to circumvent the laws and court rulings.

The New York Times noted that the board's actions appear to be an attempt to circumvent the relevant federal law and court rulings. The Kennedy Center, established in 1963 following the assassination of President Kennedy, was named a federal law in Trump's honor after he took office and filled the board with his supporters, making himself the chairman.
