‘학폭 재판 노쇼’ 권경애 변호사, 유족에게 사기 혐의로 고소 당해

Lawyer 권경애 faced a lawsuit from the bereaved families of school violence victims after missing court appearances during the trial. According to police, on the day before a school violence incident, the mother of the incident's victim, Mrs. It Gye-chul, filed a lawsuit against lawyer 권 for alleged fraud. Police stated that 유가족 (the victim's family) plans to investigate lawyer 권 for the fraud on 19th of the month.

Lawyer 권 represented 유가족's family in a damage compensation lawsuit filed on 2016 when the family demanded settlement for the loss of a child. During the lawsuit, lawyer 권 only requested for damages based on the child's possessions, not the majority of damages awarded for the loss of a child, which is expected to be a significant amount.

Additionally, lawyer 권 omitted the demand for damages related to the child's possessions in the lawsuit. When the victim's side demanded a change in the grounds for the lawsuit in 2020, lawyer 권 failed to request a change in the defendant (the guilty student). Consequently, the court denied the request for a separate lawsuit against the guilty student.

The victim's side filed a complaint against lawyer 권 for not informing them about the dismissal of the 1st trial's decision that resulted from the alleged fraud. Lawyer 권 was paid 440 million won for filing a request to reverse the 1st trial's decision based on false information. Lawyer 권 failed to inform the victim's side about the dismissal of the 1st trial's decision for five months, and the decision was finally finalized after the appeal period.

The victim's families sued lawyer 권 and his law firm for damages and the Supreme Court confirmed the ruling in May, ordering to pay 650 million won to the 유가족. However, the Constitutional Court dismissed the appeal, stating that the grounds for the lawsuit were not valid.
