Stormers XXIII have no room for error in Currie Cup playoff fight against Pumas

The Stormers XXIII find themselves in a critical situation in the Currie Cup playoff race, needing to secure a victory against the Pumas this Saturday to keep their semi-final hopes alive. Currently positioned fifth on the log, the Cape side remains in the playoff conversation, but a loss to the men from Nelspruit, kicking off at 5pm, would significantly diminish their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.

Head coach Tom Dawson-Squibb remains optimistic about his team's prospects and stresses the importance of focusing on the Pumas as they look to build momentum heading into their final two matches against the Bulls and Lions. "Let’s focus on the Pumas," Dawson-Squibb emphasized, "I know it’s an old cliché in sport, but I feel like if we focus on doing well against the Pumas, we give ourselves the best chance to do well against the Bulls and then ultimately against the Lions."

Despite an inconsistent campaign, Dawson-Squibb believes the setbacks have provided valuable lessons for his team as they approach the business end of the competition. While they may not currently be at the top of the log, the coach insists that the team's progressive results have been crucial. "It might be nice to be at the top of the log right now, but I think that the results that we’ve had have taught us some amazing lessons.

And one of the things that you want to do in this campaign is be super progressive, and I feel like we have been progressive." With the Bulls and Lions yet to arrive, Stormers XXIII cannot afford another setback if they wish to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
