Shane Gillis Expresses Regret for Supporting Trump Before Epstein Files Fallout and Iran War

Shane Gillis expressed regret for supporting President Donald Trump before the recent fallout over Epstein files, the Iran war, and other controversial events. During an appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience," Gillis told Rogan that he avoided taking a picture with Trump at the UFC Freedom 250 event earlier this summer, saying he knew pictures would be taken and he didn't want to get caught up in the media frenzy.

When Rogan highlighted that both attended the fight on the White House South Lawn in June, Gillis said he "stood outside in the rain" and refused to get his picture taken. Joe Rogan shared that he and fellow comedian Nate Bargatze "chilled" in the greenroom without issue. Gillis later joked about his support for Trump, stating he liked the idea of the Epstein Files being released and no more wars, but still didn't vote for him in the 2024 election.

Comedian Mark Normand called out Gillis for taking a picture with Trump in the past, but Gillis clarified that the photo was taken before Trump made many of his controversial decisions in his second term. Gillis has been labeled as an "anti-woke" stand-up comedian and actor, and was fired before appearing on "Saturday Night Live" in 2019 for homophobic jokes and racist slurs on his podcast "Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast." The latest season of Gillis' comedy series "Tires" debuted on Netflix.
