Sepang roads to close in stages for Sukma cycling events

Several main roads in the Sepang district will be temporarily closed and rerouted between August 16 and 19 to accommodate road cycling events at the 2026 Selangor Malaysia Games, known as Sukma. Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman disclosed that the closures will take place from 8:30am to 12:30pm each day, affecting 96 locations monitored in four zones - A, B, C, and D. Zone A encompasses Jalan Pantai Sepang Putra to Sempadan Tumbuk, Zone B runs from Jalan Dengkil to Jenderam Hulu, Zone C spans Jalan Jenderam to Salak, and Zone D connects Jalan Salak to Sungai Pelek.

All roads involved will be closed sequentially during the specified hours, according to a statement from Norhizam. The affected routes on August 16, 17, and 19 include parts of Pantai Sepang Putra Road, Kampung Bagan Lalang Road, Bukit Bangkong-Tanjung Rhu Road, and Tumbuk-Sempadan Road. Additional routes will be impacted on August 18, such as Banting-Semenyih Road towards Dengkil, Dengkil, Jenderam Hilir Road, Jenderam-Salak Road, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi Road, Pekan Salak-Lembah Paya Road, Sepang Lama Road, and Sungai Pelek Road.

Police personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, along with local authority and Selangor contingent officers, will patrol the affected areas and monitor traffic flow. The public is urged to plan their travels accordingly and utilize alternative routes to prevent traffic congestion. Sukma Selangor 2026 is set to commence from August 17 to August 24, while the Para Sukma 2026 events will be held from September 5 to September 14.
