Heading to Sepang? Expect road closures for Sukma cycling events from Sunday until Aug 19

Sepang will see road closures starting Sunday, August 16, and lasting until August 19, as part of preparations for the 2026 Selangor Malaysia Games (Sukma) cycling event. A statement from Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman revealed that traffic will be redirected in stages from 8:30am to 12:30pm, affecting major roads used by 142 cyclists during the competition.

There will be four monitoring zones - A, B, C, and D - with 96 locations designated for traffic control purposes. The closures will initially involve routes such as Pantai Sepang Putra, Bukit Bangkong-Tanjung Rhu, and Tumbuk-Sempadan on August 16, 17, and 19. On August 18, the closures will impact additional routes, including Banting-Semenyih towards Dengkil, Jenderam Hilir, Jenderam-Salak, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Pekan Salak-Lembah Paya, Sepang Lama, and Sungai Pelek.

Authorities from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Sepang district police, along with local authority officers and Selangor police contingent personnel, will be deployed at key junctions and traffic lights, as well as conduct patrols and monitoring along the affected routes. The public is advised to plan their travel ahead of time and use alternative routes to avoid potential congestion during the event, which runs from August 15 to August 24, with Para Sukma 2026 scheduled from September 5 to 14.
