Seoul museum to host summer programs for kids

The Seoul Museum of History is set to offer special summer programs for children starting August 15. These programs, all free of charge for young visitors, aim to provide an engaging and educational experience. The first program, "In Hanyang," explores how Seoul residents, formerly known as Hanyang, kept cool during the summer months without modern conveniences.

It also delves into seasonal foods and pastimes enjoyed by people of that era. Children can participate in a craft activity, decorating their own paper fans using stickers after learning about the historical context through exhibit panels. No advance reservation is necessary; kits for fan-making will be provided free of charge to the first 1,000 children who visit the museum on August 15. Interested parties can obtain information and kits at the museum's lobby and information desk.

Another program, "Santa's Summer Vacation," puts a unique spin on the Christmas tale by imagining Santa Claus spending his holiday in Korea. Children can write their holiday wishes on postcards or notes and attach them to an "August Christmas wish tree" in the museum's lobby, starting August 15. Some of these wishes will be fulfilled by the museum in a follow-up event, with details to be shared on the museum's Instagram account.

Lastly, a third program allows children to create hats inspired by the Children's Museum. This hands-on activity encourages creativity and offers an interactive way for young visitors to engage with the museum's offerings during their summer visit.
