SC dismisses plea against AP HC order quashing case against CM Chandrababu Naidu, minister

The Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging a July 15 order by the Andhra Pradesh High Court that quashed a case against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister P Narayana. The case involved allegations of irregularities in the Amaravati land pooling scheme, which saw the acquisition of around 30,000 acres of agricultural land from over 25,000 farmers in exchange for developed plots.

The bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana stated that they were not inclined to interfere with the high court's decision, emphasizing that the outcome would not affect other pending cases. Ranjit Kumar, representing Alla Rama Krishna Reddy, argued that the scheme involved significant irregularities affecting farmers.

However, the court clarified that the criminal proceedings stemmed from a complaint filed by a political rival, and no farmer had come forward to support the petition. The Chief Justice urged against conducting political battles in court, leading to the dismissal of the case filed by Reddy.
