Saudi Red Crescent saves Nigerian pilgrim after cardiac arrest at Prophet’s Mosque

On Thursday evening, a 40-year-old Nigerian pilgrim experienced cardiac and respiratory arrest at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Emergency teams from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Madinah swiftly arrived at the scene and immediately began life-saving efforts. Acting Director General of the authority’s Madinah branch, Dr. Omar bin Hussein Al-Attas, stated that the emergency teams responded to the incident within an impressive 32 seconds of their arrival.

Medical assessments confirmed the pilgrim was in cardiac and respiratory arrest, prompting the teams to commence cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as per approved medical protocols. Al-Attas emphasized that the team followed a structured approach, which included dispatching additional support to aid in the rescue efforts. Thanks to their rapid response and adherence to medical best practices, the team successfully restored the man’s pulse.

Following the resuscitation, the patient was transferred to Al-Safiah Health Center for further medical attention and was later released following a full recovery. Dr. Al-Attas highlighted the high readiness and seamless coordination between the medical dispatch center and the emergency response teams, praising their combined expertise and training. He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any emergencies, underscoring how such timely actions can be instrumental in saving lives.
