Samsung could soon take on Apple and Sony with its own Galaxy headphones

Recent discoveries in the Galaxy Wearable app suggest Samsung is gearing up to take on Apple and Sony with its own flagship over-ear wireless headphones, codenamed “Galaxy H1”. The headphones are expected to launch in early 2027, with features likely including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Bluetooth 6.0, Super Sonic Cable (SSC) UHQ audio, and Galaxy AI integration. This move marks Samsung's first direct challenge under its primary mobile brand to rival Apple's AirPods Max and Sony's over-ear lineup.

The news comes amid a wave of nostalgia in the audio industry, with past reports hinting at a potential return of Sony's legendary WH-1000XM4 headphones. Sony is reportedly planning to reintroduce the WH-1000XM6 in new colors. Meanwhile, Google opted for a conservative approach at its latest Pixel 11 showcase, merely refreshing existing earbuds rather than venturing into ambitious new form factors.

However, Samsung appears poised to make a bold, unexpected play in the premium over-ear audio market. According to SamMobile, code strings hidden within the latest Galaxy Wearable app reveal that Samsung is actively developing full-sized wireless headphones internally, using the codename "Galaxy H1". While Samsung has been heavily refining its true wireless Galaxy Buds ecosystem in recent years, the company has not released a proper over-ear flagship under its primary mobile branding in quite some time.
