Police warn A’Ibom motorists against traffic violations, pledge strict enforcement

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has issued a warning to motorists against violating traffic laws and regulations, emphasizing that offenders will be held accountable as per the law. The security agency has vowed to continue its statewide enforcement campaign across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State. According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, motorists are strongly advised to adhere strictly to existing traffic laws and regulations, as ignorance of the law will not be considered a valid defense.

The enforcement exercise is aimed at restoring order on the roads, decreasing accidents, safeguarding lives and property, and facilitating smooth movement of people and vehicles across the state. Specific focus will be on offenses such as driving against traffic, driving without valid vehicle particulars or driver's license, using unauthorized number plates, and operating unregistered vehicles, motorcycles, and tricycles.

Police will deal firmly with anyone found guilty of violating traffic laws, and ignorance of the law will not be an acceptable excuse. Officers involved in the enforcement will maintain professionalism, civility, and respect while interacting with the public. The police have also pledged to ensure that extortion, harassment, unnecessary delays, and other unprofessional practices are not tolerated during the enforcement campaign.
