Police warn A’Ibom motorists against traffic violations, pledge strict enforcement

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has issued a stern warning to motorists across the state, urging them to adhere strictly to traffic laws and regulations. The command's Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, emphasized that anyone found guilty of violating traffic laws will face consequences as prescribed by the law. In a statement issued on Friday, the police emphasized the importance of compliance with existing traffic laws, stressing that ignorance of the law would not serve as an acceptable excuse.

The primary objective of this enforcement exercise is to restore sanity on the roads, reduce avoidable road crashes, protect lives and property, and ensure the smooth and orderly movement of people and vehicles throughout Akwa Ibom State. The police have specifically targeted offenses such as driving against traffic, driving without valid vehicle particulars or a driver's license, and the use of unauthorized or unauthorised number plates.

Additionally, the command has listed the use of unregistered vehicles, motorcycles, and tricycles as offences that will attract enforcement action.

The ongoing enforcement campaign aims to create a safer and more orderly environment on the state's roads, and the police have directed all relevant personnel to maintain professionalism, respect, and civility while conducting their duties. The public is urged to cooperate fully with the enforcement exercise and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and all required documents are valid before using public roads.
