PM vows to put highest priority on overseeing housing supply

SEOUL, Aug. 14 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Han Seong-sook declared on Friday that providing housing will be her top priority as she convened a meeting to oversee the government's extensive housing supply initiative, announced on the previous day. The government aims to deliver over 230,000 additional homes in the Seoul metropolitan area by expediting development on public land, lifting greenbelt restrictions in certain regions, and supporting private-sector projects.

Prime Minister Han emphasized the urgency of the supply process, stating that speed is of utmost importance to fulfill citizens' expectations. The housing supply situation will be the prime minister's highest priority. To monitor progress, Prime Minister Han plans to visit construction sites personally every week, review project developments, and provide updates at Cabinet meetings monthly.

She also indicated that interagency meetings will be held as frequently as necessary to coordinate and resolve any outstanding issues.
