PM Anwar hails stronger Q2 expansion, says govt shielded households from global inflation

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed satisfaction with Malaysia's robust second quarter growth of 6 per cent. In a Facebook post, Anwar stressed that this performance demonstrated the Madani government's dedication to protecting households from global inflation. He highlighted the quarter as the nation's strongest growth since 2014, despite global supply chain disruptions and conflicts in the Middle East.

Anwar attributed this success to government measures like Budi Madani, Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), as well as efforts to stabilize prices and maintain supply. While acknowledging ongoing challenges to ensure inclusive growth, he affirmed the government's commitment to reforms aimed at bolstering the economy and improving lives.

"Insya Allah, the Madani government will stay on the reform path to raise the dignity of the people and reinforce the foundations of our beloved nation's economy," he concluded.
