Peking Duk Welcomes Us to ‘Paradise’ With Long-Awaited First Album

Peking Duk, the electronic music duo of Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles, has released their long-awaited debut album, "Paradise," which drops on Friday (Aug. 14). After more than a decade of dropping electronic bangers, the album arrives with an array of guest talent, including Killer Mike, Rico Nasty, Phantogram, and Matt Corby. The 14-track collection, produced by Hyde and Styles, pays homage to the Roland TB-303, the synth that defined the '90s rave scene, on the track "Jack Thompson."

The album's title track, "Paradise," features the legendary actor and activist Jack Thompson in his voice. Peking Duk, who got to know Thompson in their teens, has completed an impressive array of projects, including a solo album for Hyde as Keli Holiday, a domestic top 3 album for Styles' project Y.O.G.A., and tours across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

The production pair took a break from their solo projects to collaborate on "Paradise," which they describe as a fun and carefree endeavor. The duo, who met at a skate park in Canberra, a town that has produced some of Australia's hottest acts, brings a fresh approach to the album, leaning into each other's strengths and creating a joyful, party-like atmosphere with influences from Avalanches, soul, and small-hour vibes.
