Musical 'Frozen' premiere brings blizzard of spectacle to Seoul

Seoul's sweltering summer evening transformed into a winter wonderland on one of August's hottest nights. Families, couples, friends and solo musical enthusiasts converged on Charlotte Theater, anticipating Disney's Korean premiere of the beloved musical "Frozen." The lobby buzzed with anticipation, as lines formed outside the merchandise shop and at a call board adorned with a massive ice sculpture and shimmering snowflakes.

Children in Elsa-themed attire, glittering crowns and princess shoes mingled with adults eager to capture the historic moment. The sold-out audience eagerly anticipated a night of snow and spectacle, and they certainly received both.

The highly anticipated production boasted a stellar Korean cast, anchored by powerful performances from Jung Sun-ah as Elsa and Park Jin-joo as Anna. Based on Disney's 2013 animated film, "Frozen" follows the complex relationship between estranged royal sisters Elsa and Anna. Elsa, fearful that her ability to freeze everything around her will harm those she loves, isolates herself from the world.

Determined to reunite her sister with their kingdom of Arendelle and restore warmth to the land, Anna embarks on a quest to save both her sister and her people from an eternal winter. The stage adaptation of "Frozen" premiered on Broadway before making its South Korean debut at Charlotte Theater.
