Nigeria: Troops Nab High-Profile Terrorist, 60 Collaborators in Fresh Operations

The Nigerian Army has successfully detained a high-ranking terrorist and 60 alleged accomplices in a series of recent operations across various regions, according to a military report. The arrests occurred between August 12 and 13, as detailed by the report, which was shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

In Kaduna, members of the 4 Demonstration Battalion captured a suspected ISWAP operative who was allegedly collaborating closely with the terrorist leader Dogo Gide. The suspect was intercepted at Kadage Check Point while transporting seven sets of camouflage uniforms, which he allegedly intended to deliver to a terrorist camp. Initial questioning revealed that the suspect had been a trusted ally of Dogo Gide and had been providing logistical support to him.

Furthermore, troops from the 226 Battalion, assisted by hunters, conducted a raid on a motor park in the Gombi area of Adamawa. This operation, prompted by intelligence on suspected collaborators posing as laborers and vendors, resulted in the arrest of 60 individuals who are now under investigation.

In Zamfara, the 1 Brigade recovered a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb during a routine patrol near Tunga-Jambako in the Maradun Local Government Area.

Additionally, Operation WHIRL STROKE troops in Benue arrested five suspected terrorists during offensive operations in known terrorist strongholds in Chito, Jootar, and Ikyior local governments. They also dismantled these enclaves and recovered two motorcycles, two locally-made firearms, and other materials.

Lastly, in Borno, troops intercepted five women and seven children who were reportedly family members of terrorists. The group had evaded capture from a terrorist camp in Gazuwa.
