NFL Scouts 'Skeptical' on Ohio State QB Julian Sayin for 2 Reasons

Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin was perceived as a game manager during his first season as the team's starting QB. His performance was bolstered by a strong receiving corps, including Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, who made it easier for Sayin to succeed. During the 2023 season, Sayin completed 77% of his passes for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions, propelling Ohio State to the Big Ten Championship Game and College Football Playoff.

However, Sayin's performance took a hit in the Big Ten Championship Game, where he completed 287 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in Ohio State's 24-14 loss to Miami.

Despite his promising completion percentage, NFL scouts are skeptical about Sayin's prospects for the 2027 NFL Draft due to his size and arm strength. Standing at 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds, his arm strength is also a concern as it could limit his ceiling as a quarterback. Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, who is now Sayin's offensive coordinator, is expected to help develop the young player and provide him with NFL concepts and progressions.

However, Sayin's lack of a reliable target like Tate after the Tennessee Titans selected him with the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft could pose a challenge.
