National Junior Boys Championship of golf swings into Regina

The 2026 Canadian Junior Boys Championship golf tournament has arrived in Regina, marking the first national event in the province since 2018. Wascana Country Club is hosting the competition, featuring Canada's top U19 golfers competing over a five-day workweek. Golf Saskatchewan director Brian Lee emphasized the opportunity the tournament provides to showcase Saskatchewan's golf courses and hospitality.

Locally, the event benefits Saskatchewan golfers, as it allows them to familiarize themselves with the course without extensive travel. Saskatchewan golfer Aricin Franklin noted the convenience of having the tournament closer to home. Winning the championship offers significant benefits, including an exemption to the 2027 U.S. Junior Amateur, the 122nd Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, and potentially the Canadian Open.

Five Saskatchewan golfers, including Aricin Franklin, Ryan Mosher, Oliver Matyczuk, Austin Nesbitt, and Matty Schmiess, advanced to the final round. The tournament concludes on Friday, with the final round beginning at 8 a.m. and awards following at 3 p.m.
