Nashik: Cracked Walls, Leaking Roof Push Pardevi Villagers To Indefinite Hunger Strike

Nashik villagers, parents, and social activists are staging an indefinite hunger strike in protest of the poor condition of the Zilla Parishad Primary School in Pardevi, Igatpuri Taluka. The hunger strike commenced today outside the Igatpuri Tehsildar's office, with students joining the protest to demand a safe school for students.

The school's crumbling building, large cracks in the walls, leaking roof during monsoon season, unsanitary toilets, and a power outage lasting ten days have raised concerns about student safety and education. Parents and activists allege that the school repairs, electricity supply, and toilet facilities have been pending for months, and no action has been taken to address these issues.

Students from the school, holding the Tricolour and signs with various slogans, are supporting the hunger strike, demanding "Give students a safe school." The Pardevi Zilla Parishad Primary School is a crucial educational resource for students from low-income families, but the deteriorating school building poses significant risks to students' health and well-being.

The villagers have presented their demands to the administration, including the immediate repair of the school building, restoration of a steady electricity supply, and provision of proper sanitation facilities. They are committed to continuing the hunger strike until their demands are met, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need for the administration to take prompt action.
