More than 11 million books destroyed in Ukrainian strikes on Wildberries warehouses, including school textbooks and copies of Russia’s Constitution

According to the Russian Book Union, Association of Russian Book Publishers, and Association of Book Distributors, over 11 million books were destroyed in Wildberries warehouses due to Ukrainian attacks. The damaged books primarily consisted of fiction, children's, and popular science literature. Notable titles lost include Nadezhda Zhukova's ABC Primer, Russia's Constitution, road atlases, works by Margarita Simonyan, Zakhar Prilepin, and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

Moreover, Eksmo-AST reported that exam-prep materials for State Final Exam (OGE) and Unified State Exam (USE) were also affected in large quantities, prompting publishers within the group to quickly print additional copies. Since mid-July, Ukrainian forces have targeted Wildberries' largest warehouses across Russia, causing damage that is estimated to be worth hundreds of billions of rubles.

Russian book publishers have suspended sales on Wildberries, although the company itself claims it has not recorded any publishers withdrawing. Russian attacks have also damaged warehouses in Ukraine, with Ukrainian publishers estimating that more than 10 million books have been destroyed in recent months, including around eight million at a Kharkiv children's literature publisher following a strike on August 1.
