Doha – The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Qatar concluded an "Enhanced Tourism in Artificial Intelligence Camps" event, aimed at enhancing tourism through the innovative use of AI technologies. The program, themed "Enhanced Tourism," engaged young participants aged 15 to 18, with 14 individuals participating in the initiative.
Studio 5, a MCIT project, delivered six hours of hands-on training over three days, focusing on artificial intelligence, coding, user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design, and the development of digital solutions for the tourism industry.
During the camp, participants learned how to leverage AI to address challenges such as planning tourist trips, enhancing community engagement, and improving access to cultural experiences through smart mobile applications. The result was a series of prototypes for smart applications that utilize AI to support trip planning and enhance the overall tourist experience. These prototypes were presented at the camp's conclusion to assess the user experience and reveal the effectiveness of the solutions.
Among the projects developed were an AI-powered tourism chatbot named "Travel AI Chat," which provides instant answers to visitor inquiries and directs them to relevant tourism and public service entities, and applications designed to overcome cultural and language barriers, improve accessibility for tourists, assist during emergencies, and help discover lesser-known destinations.
