Mahindra unveils Scorpio Lifestyler pickup truck

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled its new global midsize pickup truck, the Scorpio Lifestyler, on Friday, with plans to launch it in India by April 2027. Priced below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom) at the entry level, the vehicle first appeared as a concept in South Africa in August 2023. Developed in India, the Scorpio Lifestyler will also be sold in international markets under the name Mahindra Lifestyler.

The company aims to enter a new phase of the lifestyle pickup segment in India, blending the utility of a pickup with the comfort of an SUV. The Scorpio Lifestyler is built on Mahindra's next-generation body-on-frame architecture, prioritizing payload capability, durability, safety, technology, and everyday usability.

Three versions of the pickup were showcased at the launch - Valley, Reef, and Trail. The Valley Edition combines work and leisure, the Reef Edition focuses on outdoor and exploration, and the Trail Edition emphasizes off-road capabilities.

Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, M&M Ltd., stated that Mahindra's vision was to create a world-class global pickup that raises the bar for the segment while maintaining Mahindra's strengths in capability and value. The Scorpio Lifestyler represents the strong product development capabilities at Mahindra Research Valley and is engineered for customers worldwide.

India's largest SUV maker plans to sell the Scorpio Lifestyler across markets such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. The vehicle is designed as a global product, tailored to meet various market and regulatory requirements while leveraging Mahindra's existing expertise in the pickup segment.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., noted the growing customer appetite for a vehicle that delivers authentic capability without sacrificing technology, safety, comfort, or everyday usability.
