Mahama urges Ghanaians to embrace home visits under Free Primary Healthcare programme

President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged Ghanaians to actively participate in home-based services as part of the Free Primary Healthcare programme. He emphasized that this initiative aims to bring essential healthcare closer to families and communities by having community health nurses and volunteers conduct routine health checks at homes.

These checks will focus on detecting conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, as well as identifying pregnant women, newborns, and other individuals who may require additional medical attention.

During a durbar at the Zuarungu Health Centre as part of his #ResettingGhana Tour in the Upper East Region, Mahama urged residents to cooperate with health workers and heed referrals for further care. He stressed that early detection and timely intervention could prevent health issues from escalating into severe complications, making public participation crucial for the program's success.

Furthermore, Mahama reiterated his administration's dedication to expanding access to quality healthcare regardless of a person's location or financial status, stating, "People should not die because of where they were born or where they live. Everybody has a right to good healthcare."
