Listen to Alex G’s New Song With The Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan

In February, musician Alex G revealed his plans to team up with filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun once again to compose the score for her upcoming film, "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma." Recently, he has offered a taste of this soundtrack by releasing the inaugural track, "Pain is the Heart of Love," a collaboration with The Blue Nile's Paul Buchanan. This new song is set to be part of the full soundtrack album, due for release on August 21.

This marks the third time that Alex G has worked with Schoenbrun on film scores. His previous contributions include the scores for her films "We’re All Going to the World’s Fair" (2022) and "I Saw the TV Glow" (2024). The narrative of "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" revolves around a young director (played by Hannah Einbinder) who, while rebooting a beloved horror franchise, forms a connection with the enigmatic actress (played by Gillian Anderson) who portrayed the final girl in the original series.

The film's musical lineup also includes songs by notable artists such as R.E.M., Sally Shapiro, Donna Lewis, and Okay Kaya. In other news, Alex G recently co-produced Phoebe Bridgers' third album, "Lost Weekend," completed a tour across North America, and shared two new tracks on his personal YouTube channel.

Although Paul Buchanan has been less active since his 2012 solo album "Mid Air," he has made occasional appearances since then. He lent his voice to Jessie Ware's song in 2017 and contributed to Quiet City's track in 2021.
