Lindsay Clancy is on trial for the murder of her three children in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. Prosecutors maintain that Clancy intentionally killed her children and then attempted suicide.

Clancy's husband, Patrick, left the family home on January 24 to get food and medication. Prosecutors claim Clancy killed her three children, Cora aged five, Dawson three, and Callan eight months old, using exercise resistance bands while he was away. After the killings, Clancy seriously injured herself by jumping from a second-story window, sustaining catastrophic spinal injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down. She attended the trial in a wheelchair.

They emphasized her history of seeking help for her worsening mental state, including appointments with mental health providers, emergency medical care, crisis-line contacts, and a voluntary psychiatric hospitalization.

The defense also scrutinized Clancy's medication history, arguing that the various psychiatric drugs prescribed by different healthcare providers failed to stabilize her condition and may have contributed to her deteriorating mental health. Clancy's personal diary entries revealed her emotional distress, describing feelings of being overwhelmed and unable to cope with the demands of motherhood while battling severe psychological problems.
