KTMB adds 124 ETS, EMU Plus services, nearly 39,000 seats for National Day, school holidays

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will introduce 124 new Electric Train Service (ETS) and Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) Plus services, adding nearly 39,000 seats for the National Day and school holidays. KTMB announced that 100 additional ETS services, with 31,600 seats, will run over a span of 10 days from August 21 to 23, August 28 to 31, and September 4 to 6.

The company stated that these measures are aimed at increasing capacity, broadening travel options, and satisfying the growing demand for passenger services during holiday periods and National Day celebrations.

Additionally, KTMB will operate 24 extra EMU Plus services, providing a total of 7,344 seats, on selected dates from August 21 to September 6, including a service extension to Bandar Tasik Selatan. The KTM Komuter's northern sector will see eight added services on the Padang Besar-Butterworth-Padang Besar route from August 27 to 31, raising the daily total to 46 services on the route.

Tickets for the extra services went on sale yesterday through KTMB's official sales channels. The company also organized customer appreciation activities from August 10 to 14, offering vouchers, KFC meals, free travel tickets, and RM16 discounts to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the ETS. KTMB's Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri, highlighted the strong performance of the ETS since its introduction in 2010, noting that it has now carried 44.3 million passengers, with a 56% increase to 3.67 million passengers in the first seven months of the current year compared to the same period last year.
