Kepercayaan antara Anwar, Zahid pada tahap terendah, dakwa KJ

Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has stated that the current issue is the extent to which Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to support the unity government led by Anwar Ibrahim. The decline in trust between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his successor, Zahid Hamidi, since the formation of unity government in 2022, according to Khairy, has reached its lowest point.

The decision of the BN to collaborate with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the PRN-Negeri Sembilan election has further widened the rift between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH), with Anwar as PH's chairman and Zahid as BN's chairman. The PRN-Negeri Sembilan election saw BN winning 25 seats while PH secured 11. PH claims it was a betrayal, while BN maintains they only agreed to work together at the federal level, not indefinitely.

The situation surrounding BN's continued support for the unity government and the timing of the next general election depends largely on BN, said Khairy. The presence of PKR defectors and some independent MPs inclined to join BN has reduced the number of potential supporters for BN. The recent inclusion of Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail and Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung, who joined Bersatu, led by former PKR leader Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, adds to this speculation.

Khairy also mentioned the possibility of Kudat and Kota Marudu by-election winner Verdon Bahanda and Masyarakat Demokratik Masyarakat MP Wetrom Bahanda joining BN. In other developments, Khairy stated that DAP might choose to remain in the government if 4,000 party delegates vote accordingly, rather than leaving the unity government before the end of the parliamentary term in May.

He believes DAP will prefer to stay in Putrajaya to demonstrate progress within the current one-year timeframe, while ensuring the stability of Anwar's leadership. Khairy also accused some DAP leaders of wanting to be ministers, even though they had not served in such positions for three years.
