Kajang MRT Line hit by train fault at Bukit Bintang

On Friday morning, Syahirah experienced a sudden disruption to her commute when the MRT train she was traveling on stalled at Pavilion Bukit Bintang station around 8:19am. The doors refused to close, leaving the air-conditioning switched off and plunging the carriage into darkness. By 8:31am, passengers were forced to make an emergency exit from the train as long queues formed among commuters waiting for alternative transport.

Syahirah, who was heading towards Kwasa Damansara, opted to use the monorail to KL Sentral before continuing to her office. She expressed her gratitude towards Rapid KL staff for assisting passengers during the evacuation. Rapid KL subsequently revealed that the Kajang Line was experiencing delays due to a compressor system issue at Bukit Bintang station. The affected train was removed from service, and train frequency was adjusted as the operator worked to restore normal service.

This incident occurred just a day after another disruption on the Kelana Jaya LRT Line, where passengers found themselves stuck on the tracks for about 20 minutes between Taman Jaya and Universiti stations after a train broke down. The sudden halt was reportedly accompanied by a loud boom, causing several people to lose their balance. Passengers resorted to contacting Rapid KL's emergency hotline for assistance, which eventually arrived and helped them transfer to another train on the opposite track.

The Klang Valley rail network faced delays, crowded platforms, and the need for alternative transportation methods for commuters on two consecutive days. Rapid KL acknowledged the Kelana Jaya Line's delays, attributing them to a power outage at Universiti station.
